Chat Pile Announce 'Tenkiller' Score, Share Two Singles

The metal band have gone country

It's been a big year for political metal warriors Chat Pile. They released their acclaimed debut album God's Country, and now they've scored a film. Their Tenkiller score will be released on November 18, the same day that the film comes out through Amazon.

The movie features Chat Pile frontman Raygun Busch in an acting role. The band's score for the film isn't considered a proper full-length album, although it does feature 17 tracks. It apparently features the Oklahoma band's signature sludge metal sound as well as a surprising diversion into country.

The band said in a statement, "The music we made for Tenkiller is quite a bit different than what you may come to expect from us. We were given the freedom to really experiment and explore territories that we've never done before. It's not going to be for everyone, but we hope some of you connect with what we set out to do."

The metal rager "Tenkiller" and the twangy country ditty "Lake Time (Mr. Rodan)" are out now and can be heard below; a cassette single can be preordered here. The full score lands exclusively on Bandcamp on November 18, with a vinyl edition to follow in 2023 through the Flenser.

An official synopsis describes Tenkiller like this: "One year after the tragic death of his best friend, an 18-year-old machinist struggles with the split of his parents and the violent way of life surrounding him." It's directed by Jeremy Choate.

The score was recorded in the winter of 2020. Meanwhile, Chat Pile are currently working on their official second album.
