It's been a long, hard road for Chickenfoot, the result of Sammy Hagar uniting with fellow aging rockers Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith. From thinly veiled guffaws at their ridiculous name to scepticism at how such a collection of virtuosos would gel, many suspect glances have been cast upon them. However, after the surprising success of their debut album, and this collected footage of the ensuing tour, Chickenfoot are poised to become a household name for another reason: impeccable ability. While the music ― basic rock ― is a rather unsurprising experience, as Get Your Buzz On Live clearly proves, there is something more to this outfit. From Hagar's comfortable showmanship and relaxed nature to Satriani's embracing of a supporting role and Smith's fiery drum work, this is a great show. Bolstering the spectacle, crisp surround sound, a passable documentary, some amusing "secret" guests/backstage footage, band interviews and photos ensure Get Your Buzz On Live is surprisingly high for some down-low, blues-influenced rock.
