When I saw techno.ca member Adam Marshall’s name involved on this project, I was expecting something more in tune with the pounding tech-house that he has been a major proponent of. Instead, I was puzzled to hear mellow, laid-back, cute tunes playing on my speakers. For that reason alone the title on this CD is quite apt. In particular, track three is enjoyable, with its pleasant drifting guitar notes. Yet even more noticeable was track five (which I suspect was composed by Adam Marshall), a straight-up techno tune with a comparatively up-tempo swing that inspired me to shuffle and bob. Domestic Appliances is gentle, domesticated electronic music to clean your house to. In fact, I could easily see most of these tracks winding up in a chill-out compilation of some sort.
