Aside from Kalmah. there isn't a symphonic death metal band from Finland that compare to Eternal Tears of Sorrow. Relying heavily on their gothic keyboard melodies and heavy guitar riffs, Saivon Lapsi is a must-listen for fans. Exploring the depths of their musical inspirations, the band have included clean vocal ballads to complement their heavy atmospheric tone. Don't take this experimentation for weakness though, as Saivon Lapsi delivers some heavy tracks: "Legion of the Beast," "Dance of December," "Beneath the Frozen Leaves" and "Blood Stained Sea." The musicianship is uncanny, with the guitar and keyboard committing murderous solos — all of the aforementioned tracks listed contain at least one of these blistering solos. Concept song series "Angelheart, Ravenheart" returns with "Act III: Saivon Lapsi." With powerful chord progressions and haunting melodies, it would make an appropriate ending to the story — whether or not it is remains to be seen. Eternal Tears of Sorrow have always been able to write quality albums and Saivon Lapsi continues that trend.
