Ghostkeeper

The Paragon, Halifax NS October 23

Ghostkeeper's live show is more upbeat than their recordings, but still haunting. Though the Calgary outfit's music holds influences of pop, blues, rock, punk and electronics, there's still a sense of the country within the songs. And frontman Shane Ghostkeeper kept nature close at hand by hanging a feather off the neck of his guitar. The venue seemed a little big for the band, as though the creepier elements of their sound might be more at home in a more contained space. While putting out a sound that's upbeat and catchy, Ghostkeeper kept the rural and introverted at the forefront as well, with effects sending the sound off into a dusky forest somewhere.
