Mincing Fury and Guttural Clamour of Queer Decay

Weirdo grind from the Czech Republic is a good idea, and this is certainly weirdo grind from the Czech Republic. After a dull-as-dirt two-and-a-half-minute intro (what is this, a death metal album?), the band lay down some manic grind in "Rumiste DC," which is relatively straightforward until the scratching kicks in. Yup, scratching, as in DJ scratching, and it actually returns later in the album. They pull it off, which is more than can be said for the grating annoyance that is the grooving grind of the title track. The album is a hodgepodge of Cephalic Carnage-inspired technical grind, wild experimentation, silly humour and thick, simple, near-death groove-grind, and while the goofiness gets old, the band are solid and skilled. I dig the production, all snare and hi-hat, crisp, clean and loud, and the vocal experimentation (see the title track again, but this time it's for good reason). This one is almost ruined by the silliness and the patchwork songwriting, but songs like "Machinka," with its catchy, slow-burn groove, and the punk-y "Sea of Weakness" bring it back to the land of repeat listens by being technical, heavy and unique. And those soft rock samples? Brilliant.
