Phantom Glue

I can't explain it, but for some reason Phantom Glue stick in your head. Their latest album, A War of Light Cones, is a very raw record that rubs all the right places. Despite how rough the record might sound, it only adds more flavour to the music. Opening track "Perils" introduces you to guitars dripping with distortion and tumultuous vocals surging through a sea of noise. Like falling down the stairs to hell, Phantom Glue continue to hammer you with their unique blend of sludge and drone as despair and anger set over the record. Then out of nowhere, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the dying notes of "Neurolizard" fade out and the driving riff of "Bow in the Dust" comes roaring in. This track dropkicks you in the chest, gets the blood pumping and will inspire some brutal mosh pits. Aside from how heavy the tune is, the placement is sheer brilliance; it cranks out a second wave of energy, with the momentum flowing through the remainder of the album. Before you know it, you'll be going back to "Bow in the Dust" and riding that wave over and over again.
