Senses Fail

The Senses Fail machine just keeps on churning. Without flinching, they've toured ceaselessly and released a commercially successful string of hardcore-laced scream pop albums, and their latest (produced again by prolific punk/screamo producer Brian McTernan) isn't likely to disappoint whoever's buying them in the first place. It's also not likely to change anyone else's mind. While they're actually a better band than a lot of people would care to discover or admit, the NJ outfit don't exactly push their, or the genre's, boundaries. Though criticized in the past for not picking a side and sticking with it, it's when they combine them most tightly, such as on the guitar-and-drum synchronized "Lifeboats," that there's anything remotely interesting going on. However, a pure pop track like "Saint Anthony" just shows that some things are better left to New Found Glory.
