Montreal's Ben Shemie, of SUUNS fame, has announced the release of his solo LP, Desiderata — and has today lifted new single "The Eye" off of the forthcoming record.

The upcoming full-length, which will arrive July 15 via Joyful Noise/Backward Music, will examine Shemie's own intergalactic psyche, combining "string fractals, manipulated vocals and synth-powered chaos to bridge the universes of past, present and future," according to a release.

An electronic-infused track, "The Eye" sees Shemie as "a wandering soul tangled in its own dark orbit, searching for meaning in a world of stardust and astral mirages."

Shemie, who enlisted the classical teachings of acclaimed composer Ana Sokolovic and commissioned the Molinari String Quartet, launched his vision for the 10-track LP through composition rather than experimentation.

"The band is incredible and it mixes more contemporary chamber string writing, with some improvisation and feedback," Shemie said of the album in a statement. "I want to write severe, 'serious' contemporary music, but I can only go so far before I need to break out into song — so it's partly pop, and also pretty radical at times."

Last October, SUUNS released their latest offering The Witness.
