The Calgary Folk Music Festival is officially set to return this summer. Today organizers confirmed the event will run from July 22 to 28 — though it won't look the same as in years past.

For this year's summer fest, it will be reimagined as an outdoor concert series called CFMF Summer Serenades. Over the course of the event, it will find the likes of Cowboy Junkies, Jim Cuddy, Lido Pimienta, Dan Mangan, the Halluci Nation (f.k.a. A Tribe Called Red) and Charlotte Cardin playing the fest's main stage in Prince's Island Park.

Other acts include Terra Lightfoot, Pharis and Jason Romero, iskwē and Tom Wilson, Shad, Hawksley Workman, Moscow Apartment, Fiver and William Prince, among many others.

As could be expected, the festival will have strict COVID-19 safety protocols in effect, including mandatory face masks and physical distancing. Festivalgoers for the CFMF Summer Serenades will also be assigned to a space for their tarps and blankets, with each space being large enough to host up to four adults and two kids.

The event will be limited to only 15 percent of its usual Calgary Folk Fest capacity, accommodating about 1,200 adults and 600 children if everything sells out. While attendees will be asked to wear their masks when travelling around the festival grounds, they will be able to take them off while in their designated spaces.

Learn more about this summer event, including the full lineup, safety protocols and tickets, at the festival website. Tickets for CFMF Summer Serenades will go on sale to the public on Friday (June 18) at 10 a.m. local time.
