The founders of Fat Cat, doubtless flooded by the works of fledgling artists, put out this compilation to bring some exposure to the pick of a vast litter. IDM, indie rock, distorted beat structures, chaotic and rhythmic modulations, patterned noise and brooding instrumentation - the spectrum of sound here is wide and overwhelming. I suspect that this compilation is a way for the label to put out its feelers by seeing what gets the most positive response. All this might seem dissuading to a casual buyer, but the material on this compilation is quite good and deserves the attention of those who appreciate raw developing talent.
