Cadence Weapon's "Connor McDavid" Music Video Could Kick Off an Edmonton Oilers Comeback

The reverse sweep begins Saturday for Canada's latest Stanley Cup finalists

It was all good just a week ago: Cadence Weapon celebrated the Edmonton Oilers' run to the Stanley Cup Final with a new version of his song "Connor McDavid." Now, as a video shot on location in the City of Champions lands today, his hometown team is — as hockey linguists would say — absolutely "in one."

Following a 4–3 defeat last night, the Oilers are down three games to none to the Florida Panthers in the final best-of-seven series. But for the faithful in blue and orange, the artist's video for "Connor McDavid (2024 Stanley Cup Version)" could be the key to kickstarting the series' comeback. Directed, shot and edited by Lyle Bell, the visuals are a distinctly Edmontonian celebration of the team's big moment.

It begins at the team's outdoor viewing party (known locally as the Moss Pit, for the team's late locker room attendant Joey Moss) where Cadence Weapon is joined by a crowd of Oilers fans banging drums and hoisting homemade Stanley Cups — with one even dressed up like the treasured trophy. He also sports the Oil's sweet early '00s alternate jersey, and stops by Rollie Miles Athletic Field, named for his Grey Cup-winning grandfather.

The Oilers look to start the reverse sweep Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET, and until then, you can watch Cadence Weapon's "Connor McDavid (2024 Stanley Cup Version)" video below.
