The Stop Making Sense 40th anniversary celebrations aren't slowing down any time soon. As we await the arrival of the Everyone's Getting Involved tribute album, David Byrne has shared his thoughts on Paramore's offering for the Talking Heads compilation.
"Paramore recorded an amazing version of 'Burning Down the House' for a Stop Making Sense covers album that A24 is doing in connection with the re-release of the film," he tweeted posted, before plugging his and the Record Store Day ambassadors' joint release — a 12-inch single with Paramore's cover, and a horn-filled cover of "Hard Times" by Byrne.
Everyone's Getting Involved's release date has yet to be announced. Meanwhile scattered encore presentations of Stop Making Sense are playing across North America — including a monthly residency at Toronto's Ted Rogers Hot Docs Cinema through to August. It's still the greatest concert film ever, so check it out!
The band told me that their song Hard Times was inspired by Talking Heads, so I learned it and recorded my version of their great song with a horn section. This was fun! The 12" is available on Record Store Day 2024 -More info and a store near you at recordstoreday.com
