Today, the Supreme Court of the United States officially overturned Roe v. Wade, removing the constitutional protection on abortions and stripping away women's reproductive rights in numerous states. Many musicians have spoken up to condemn the decision.

This includes Taylor Swift, who tweeted that she was "absolutely terrified" that women have lost the "rights to their own bodies." Alicia Keys called the decision "fuckin bullshit," while Jack White made a snarky Instagram post denouncing the US's two-party system and saying that Trump "took the country backwards 50 years." Phoebe Bridgers simply wrote, "fucking evil."

Many Canadians have commented on the news from the US, including Tegan and Sara, PUP, Tanika Charles, Charlotte Day Wilson and others.

Companies including Netflix, Disney, Paramount and Sony have pledged to cover employee travel costs in order to provide abortion access.

50 years. everybody working in reproductive justice warning that Roe needed to be protected, that these dickheads were playing the long game. 50 years of "we gotta win the next election." now this.

too angry to speak prudently, even though we knew this was coming. to all the centrists over the years who insisted to me that protecting the right to abortion wasn't politically expedient, the strongest curse I can imagine; the bad guys won because of your cowardice.

just because you’re not an American citizen does not mean the overturning of Roe V Wade is none of your business. if you support womens rights and human rights you NEED to be vocal about how drastic and appalling the overturning of the constitutional right to an abortion is.
